kNOw Meth Barron County

kNOw Meth Barron County is an initiative to address the challenges methamphetamine (meth) poses in our community. We strive to promote awareness, prevent use, and support treatment and recovery options to build a meth-free Barron County.

What is methamphetamine (meth)?

Meth is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system (1).

Meth also goes by the nicknames: Ice, Speed, Chalk, Crystal, Glass, Crank, Yaba, Fire, Tina, Tweak, Poor Man's Cocaine, Uppers, Trash, Yellow Barn, Methlies Quick, Stove Top, Go Fast (2)

Meth usually comes in a white or yellowish crystalline powder, crystals, or a pill. This drug can be snorted, smoked, injected, or swallowed (2). It is made of a variety of chemcials. As a result there are many harmful short and long term effects to the health of meth users - click to view short-term and long-term side effects (1).

In addition to the effects on users, meth use impacts family, friends and the community.
